Using the Micrograms to Grams Converter
This converter allows you to find the equivalent values in micrograms to grams, or the other way around.

The very bottom part of the converter also shows the ratio between grams and micrograms (or the other way around, depending on your input and output selection). This ratio is the key to manually converting between the two units, as we will describe in the next section.
Converting between Micrograms and Grams Manually
The relationship between micrograms and grams is defined as 1 gram is equal to 1,000,000 micrograms.
Hence, the rate of grams to micrograms is 1:1,000,000.
The rate of micrograms to grams is 1:0.000,001.
This leads to two possible formulae:
mcg = g * 1,000,000
g = mcg * 0.000,001
Using these two formulae for manual conversions is fairly simple. The easiest way is to choose the one, where your output value is the subject of the formula. The two examples below will demonstrate this.
EXAMPLE 1: Convert 72.56 grams into micrograms.
Our output is in micrograms, hence we choose the first formula because it has the subject in mcg.
mcg = g * 1,000,000 \\= 72.56 * 1,000,000 \\= 72,560,000 ~mcg.
EXAMPLE 2: Convert 231,879 micrograms into grams.
Our output is in grams, hence we choose the second formula because the subject is in grams.
g = mcg * 0.000,001 \\= 231,879 * 0.000,001 \\= 0.231879 ~grams.
How small is a microgram
A microgram is an extremely small unit of measurement, where 1 microgram is equivalent to a gram split into a million equal parts.
To visualize this further, there are barely any substances that can be visible to the human eye if they are present in a mass of a couple of micrograms.
Some specific substances with extremely good light reflection properties can be observed in amounts of a couple of micrograms if placed on highly reflective surfaces in special conditions.
Most items in practical chemistry or medicine are measured in milligrams, so the question arises about what could be the practical application of micrograms.
